Hello! my name is Meagan O'Hearn and i am the founder of Joyful Journey College Counseling. I'd love to take a moment to tell you about myself, how and why I started Joyful Journey and more about my philosophy as a College Consultant.

​I began my career in education, by first working in admissions during my time as an undergraduate student, thats how long I've loved higher education! Upon graduation I moved into the role of an Admissions Counselor. I worked at both a large public university and a small private college. These roles allowed me to gain valuable insights into the College Admission process.  During my time at those institutions I decided I wanted to "flip to the other side of the desk" and no longer work at a College/University but in the High School setting.  I earned my Master’s Degree in School Counseling. Working with students was always the most rewarding aspect of my jobs in college admissions and as a High School Counselor  I had the opportunity to guide hundreds of students through their college applications. Now, as an Independent Educational Consultant (IEC), I get to combine my favorite elements from both roles — demystifying the admissions process and coaching high school students every step of the way as they embark on their journey of applying to college!

I believe we're all in this together, the student, and the adults in their lives - we are united in support of the student! It's their journey to college but our job to be there for them. My goal is to help students apply to the universities of their dreams- I say universities because I believe students can be excited about every school they apply to, there are so many wonderful institutions of higher education.  As an IEC I am committed to finding schools that inspire and motivate all of my students. My goal is to make everyone feel less anxiety and more joy about what is to come!
